After hydrophobic modification, the silanol groups on the surface of fumed silica are replaced by organic groups such as methyl groups, which improves the compatibility of the modified fumed silica with the RTV system and makes the hydrophobic fumed silica easy to disperse as the hydrophobicity increases, the transparency of RTV increases slightly. On the other hand, when hydrophobic fumed silica is used as filler, the storage stability of RTV will be greatly improved due to the relatively few surfaces active silanol groups of hydrophobic fumed silica, and its viscosity after 6 months of storage remained almost unchanged.
